Technical Support Specialist

Job Summary:

At Blue Robotics, we build affordable marine robotics components that open up the ocean to everyone—from high school students to research labs to people who just love building cool stuff. Our products power underwater exploration all over the world: think reef monitoring, shipwreck diving, fish farming, wave energy testing, and even a few backyard submarine projects.

We’re looking for a curious, capable, and tech-savvy human to join our support team as a Technical Support Specialist. You'll be on the front lines with our global community, helping folks troubleshoot hardware and software issues, answer technical questions, and keep their ocean projects on track. Most of the action happens over email, but sometimes it’s a phone call, video chat, or even a screen-share deep dive (pun very much intended).

This role is perfect for someone who loves solving puzzles, gets a thrill from helping others succeed, and maybe has a few microcontroller side projects brewing at home. If you light up at the idea of tracking down a weird bug, explaining how a PWM signal works, or helping someone install firmware on an ROV, keep reading.

This is a chance to grow with a company that's pushing the boundaries of who gets to explore the ocean. If you're stoked about tech, love helping people, and want to make marine robotics more accessible to the world—we’re so excited to meet you!

Please include a cover letter in your application and let us know why you want to help Blue Robotics customers keep their projects afloat :-)

Responsibilities

  • Be the go-to person for customers who need help with setup, troubleshooting, or integrating our tech into their builds
  • Provide top-notch support via email, chat, and the occasional video call (no soul-draining call center vibes here)
  • Reproduce bugs and issues to help our engineering team squash them 🐞
  • Help maintain our technical documentation and knowledge base (and yes, we love a good diagram)
  • Collaborate with the engineering, ops, and customer experience teams to make sure we’re always improving
  • Occasionally test new products, write up findings, and help make sure things are working before they go out the door

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 1-3 years of experience in a technical support, engineering, or tinkerer-adjacent role
  • Strong troubleshooting chops—both hardware and software
  • Familiarity with electronics, microcontrollers, sensors, or robotics (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, etc.)
  • You know your way around a multimeter and a soldering iron (or are excited to learn)
  • Comfortable working independently and managing your own task list
  • Solid written communication skills (you’ll be explaining complex things clearly and kindly)
  • An interest in ocean tech, marine science, or robotics is a big plus
  • Hybrid position (semi-local to Los Angeles preferred)

Extra credit if you:

  • Know what I²C, UART, or ESC stand for (and maybe even what they do)
  • Have built a robot, ROV, or anything that runs on firmware
  • Are familiar with GitHub or have contributed to open-source projects
  • Have worked with remote teams or customers around the world
